Thousands of people died during the fighting, 144 slaves were executed and 123 – deported. Eighteen years later, slavery was abolished. East coast is quiet and west offers a wide variety of hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. Atlantic breeze creates a pleasant temperature. The rainy season is from June to December.
