Beijing is the capital of China. The town borders the southwest of Tianjin and Hebei Province to the north, west and south. Beijing is the second largest city in China after Shanghai and with its size of about 16 800 sq. km. houses more than 11 000 000 inhabitants. This is a great town with many attractions and beautiful places which is visited every day by almost 4 million tourists. There are many architectural monuments – forts, temples, palaces, monasteries, among which stand out especially Emperor Palace and Temple of Heaven. Beijing is situated at the northern tip of Northers-Chinese plane which extends south and east of the city. Mountains to the north, northwest and west of the city area separated from the steppes of Inner Mongolia.
