Compared with other continents, Europe is the most attractive place for tourism because many historical sights, suitable climate and other characteristics, said Alan Vella, a member of Susan on Tourism at the European Commission. Vella took part in a seminar on “Structural Funds of the European Union for tourism in Bulgaria, which was held in Sofia. According to experts, 480 million tourists have visited Europe in 2006, 185 million – Asia and the Pacific islands, 142 million – North and South America. Due to the large number of tourists, Europe has won the 300 billion euros, North and South America – 122 billion. France is the most visited part of the Old Continent – with 79 million tourists annually. Bulgaria is in the middle of the list with 5,2 million tourists, Romania is one of the last places – by 1,4 million people.
