Rio de Janeiro is located in Southeast Brazil. This metropolis is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, since it combines the endless beaches, conical hills and tropical vegetation in its charming appearance. Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in the country after Sao Paulo, but is a preferred tourist destination. The city is famous by the statue of Christ on a hill Korkodavu. Impressive is the Sugar Hill lump. The city is no less famous Carnival in Rio. And definitely is the carnival in Rio. The most famous carnival is undoubtedly the one in Rio de Janeiro. It always starts on Saturday, 40 days before Easter and ends on Tuesday, the last day before Lent, and fiesta is constantly whirling four days and four nights. This year’s carnival will be held from 20th to February 24th. Traditionally, the Friday evening before the actual carnival parade takes place on the streets of Rio de Janeiro, during which King Momo takes the throne. The king is elected from among the thickest inhabitants, the condition is to weigh at least 100 kg.
